FBGRX and FDGRX Benefit From Early SpaceX Exposure
Read MoreHide Full Article
Fidelity Blue Chip Growth Fund (FBGRX - Free Report) and Fidelity Growth Company Fund (FDGRX - Free Report) , two of Fidelity’s Large Cap Growth mutual fund offerings, have delivered strong gains in 2026, helped in part by their exposure to SpaceX. FBGRX has advanced 15.8% year to date, while FDGRX has climbed 22.2%. Both funds have held SpaceX positions, giving shareholders indirect exposure to the privately held aerospace company’s rapidly increasing valuation.
The SpaceX investment has become increasingly significant as the company’s valuation has soared. As of June 30, 2026, SpaceX represented about 4.8% of FBGRX’s assets, while FDGRX also maintained a sizable position of 4.3%. This underscores how Fidelity’s early investment has created an additional source of growth beyond their public-market holdings.
The funds’ 2026 performances, however, cannot be attributed solely to SpaceX. Both portfolios have substantial exposure to technology and other high-growth companies, which have also supported returns. Still, the SpaceX stake gives FBGRX and FDGRX a notable advantage in capturing gains from a private company that has become one of the world’s most valuable businesses. As SpaceX’s valuation continues to evolve and potentially creates opportunities for greater liquidity, its contribution could become even more meaningful for Fidelity fund investors.
Fidelity Blue Chip Growth Fund primarily invests in common stocks, focusing on well-established, well-capitalized blue-chip companies. FBGRX uses fundamental analysis to select domestic and foreign issuers based on financial, industry, market and economic factors.
Sonu Kalra has been a lead manager of FBGRX since 2009. Three top holdings for FBGRX are Nvidia (15.6%), Apple (9.5%) and Alphabet (8.4%).
FBGRX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 30.1% and 15.1%, respectively, and its net expense ratio is 0.72%. FBGRX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1. To see how this fund performed compared to its category, and other 1 and 2 Ranked Mutual Funds, please click here.
Fidelity Growth Company Fund invests primarily in common stocks of companies with above-average growth potential. FDGRX uses fundamental analysis to select domestic and foreign issuers based on financial, industry, market and economic factors.
Steven S. Wymer has been the lead manager of FDGRX since 1997. Three top holdings for FDGRX are Nvidia (15.7%), Apple (7.6%) and Microsoft (6.1%).
FDGRX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 32.1% and 16.8%, respectively, and its net expense ratio is 0.69%. FDGRX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1.
